Thomas finally admitted the truth.
He and Robert had worked together.
They had planned to expose Charles.
But Thomas backed out.
The night Robert died, he had been waiting at a motel with copies of the evidence.
Robert never arrived.
Thomas became convinced Charles had killed him.
He destroyed almost everything.

The flash drive survived.
Claire was furious.
“You could have helped my father.”
Thomas lowered his head.
“Yes.”
“You could have cleared his name.”
“Yes.”
“You could have told me.”
“Yes.”
Claire stood shaking.
“Why didn’t you?”
Thomas looked at Madeline.
“Because I chose my child.”
Claire answered immediately.
“So did my father.”
Silence filled the room.
That was the difference.
Robert had risked everything because he believed children deserved a safer world.
Thomas had remained silent because he believed his child deserved a safer home.
Two fathers.
Two choices.
One tragedy.
Madeline left the room crying.
Hours later, she returned Nathan’s engagement ring.
Not because of Claire.
Not because of the triplets.
Because she realized she had spent her entire life surrounded by families that protected appearances instead of truth.
“I need to know who I am without all this,” she told Nathan.
