Federal investigators reopened Robert Bennett’s case.
Charles disappeared.
His private plane never left the airport.
His passport remained at home.
But twenty million dollars vanished from an offshore account.
Nathan believed his uncle was running.
Claire believed something else.
“He’s looking for the evidence my father hid.”
“What evidence?”
Claire remembered something from childhood.
Her father had given her a small wooden music box weeks before his death.
He made her promise never to throw it away.
She still had it.
Nathan helped her open the false bottom.
Inside was a tiny brass key.
A number was engraved on it.

The number belonged to a safe-deposit box.
Inside they found Robert’s original construction files.
And a handwritten letter.
My dearest Claire,
If you are reading this, I failed to come home.
Do not spend your life avenging me.
Build something better than what these men destroyed.
Claire stopped reading.
