The Nurse Who Remembered

Chapter 12 - The Nurse Who Remembered

Investigators interviewed everyone who had access to Rebecca during her final weeks.

Doctors.

Nurses.

Family.

Visitors.

One nurse remembered William.

"He said he was her uncle."

Jonathan's anger became cold.

William had visited Rebecca twice without telling anyone.

The nurse remembered another detail.

He brought herbal tea.

Rebecca drank it.

Daniel nearly lost control when he heard.

But there was still no direct evidence.

Then security footage from the hospital archive was recovered.

William entered Rebecca's room carrying a thermos.

Forty-three minutes later, he left without it.

The thermos was never found.

Police obtained a warrant.

William's home was searched.

They discovered financial records.

Fake passports.

Large amounts of cash.

But no medication.

No thermos.

Nothing connecting him directly to Rebecca's death.

William was arrested for financial crimes.

Not murder.

Jonathan attended the hearing.

William looked at him across the courtroom.

"I loved Rebecca."

Jonathan stood.

The judge ordered him to sit.

William continued.

"Everything I did was for this family."

Jonathan finally understood something.

William believed it.

That was the most frightening part.

He had stolen millions.

Threatened Rebecca.

Destroyed lives.

Yet somewhere inside his own mind, he remained the loyal friend.

The man holding the family together.

Jonathan looked at him.

"No."

William smiled faintly.

Jonathan said, "Everything you did was because you wanted to own this family."

May you like

William's smile disappeared.

And Jonathan knew he had finally found the one truth William could not tolerate.
