Victor believed the original evidence was still hidden at the diner.
Maria wanted everyone to stay away.
Jax agreed.
Then he went anyway.
Nora followed.
“Absolutely not,” he said.
“That diner is mine.”
“This is dangerous.”
“So was marrying Victor.”
Jax looked at her.
She had a point.
Police surrounded the block.
Victor entered through the rear door.
He found Jax sitting at the counter.
The same seat where Luke had placed the photograph.
Victor smiled.
“You always were predictable.”
Jax remained calm.
“Where have you been?”
“Building something.”
“By stealing from people?”
“Everyone steals.”
“No.”
Victor laughed.
“You think Caleb was innocent?”
Jax’s expression changed.
Victor claimed Caleb had originally helped him.
He transported vehicles.
Changed identification numbers.
Accepted money.
Then Caleb tried to leave.
Jax felt sick.
Victor leaned closer.
“Your brother wasn’t a hero.”
Jax thought about Caleb’s letter.
Maybe he had made mistakes.
That did not erase what he did afterward.
“He tried to fix it.”
“And look where that got him.”
Nora stepped from the kitchen.
Victor’s smile vanished.
“Hello, Nora.”
She held up her phone.
“Hello, Victor.”
The entire conversation had been recorded.
Victor moved toward her.
Police entered immediately.
He was arrested without anyone being hurt.
As officers led him outside, Victor looked at Jax.
“You think this fixes your family?”
Jax looked through the diner window.
Luke stood across the street beside Emily.
“No.”

“But it gives us somewhere to start.”
