The Company With Glass Walls

Chapter 18 - The Company With Glass Walls
Sophia transformed Bennett Development.
The executive floor no longer had private elevators controlled by family members.
Employee representatives joined the board.
A whistleblower office reported to an independent committee.
Company funds could not be used for personal legal matters without public disclosure.
The old culture resisted.
Two directors resigned.
Profits dipped during restructuring.
Richard’s supporters predicted failure.
Three years later, the company was stronger.
Sophia renamed it Bennett Community Development and shifted its focus toward affordable housing and maternal-health facilities.
The clinic where Emma was born had closed after the investigation.
Sophia purchased the building.
She converted it into the Rose Center for Patient Advocacy.
Maria Delgado became its first director.
At the opening, Maria stood beside Sophia.
“I used to think collecting proof would make me brave,” Maria said.
Sophia took her hand.
“You stayed long enough to use it.”
Emma designed the center’s family room.
Helen selected the children’s books.
Adrian reviewed every safety system.
Vanessa sent flowers from Chicago.
On one wall, a sentence appeared in simple black letters:
