Two days after Ryan left, a photograph appeared online.
Elena, standing beside the pool in her silk robe.
Ryan and Chloe in the water.
Someone had taken it from a neighboring hillside.
A gossip account posted the image with a cruel headline suggesting Elena had staged a public confrontation over money.
By noon, strangers were debating her marriage.
By evening, one of Ryan’s business associates gave an anonymous quote claiming Elena was “emotionally unstable” after her mother’s death.
Elena knew exactly who was behind it.
Ryan.
He could no longer control the house.
So he tried to control the story.
Her first instinct was to defend herself.
Daniel advised patience.
“People who lie publicly often make mistakes because they need to keep talking.”
He was right.
The next morning, Ryan gave an interview to a business podcast.
He denied forging Elena’s signature.
Then he made one fatal claim.
“Elena authorized me verbally.”
Daniel paused the recording.
“There.”
Elena frowned.
“What?”
“He just admitted he signed on your behalf.”
The statement did not prove everything.
But it gave investigators a reason to look deeper.
Ryan had gone online to save his reputation.
