Caroline became part of the family.
On Emma’s birthday, she handed her the sapphire necklace permanently.
This time, Emma accepted it.

The jeweler removed two small sapphires from the original chain.
One became a pendant for Emma.
One became a small pin for Ethan.
The central stone remained in the original setting.
Emma gave it to Robert.
He stared at her.

Robert held the necklace carefully.
