Rebecca’s Anger

Chapter 12 - Rebecca’s Anger
Rebecca seemed strong.
Until she wasn’t.
One night, Claire found her smashing an old coffee mug in the kitchen.
“Rebecca?”
She turned.
“I hate him.”
“Charles?”
“Andrew.”
Claire understood.
Rebecca had spent years protecting Andrew’s memory.
Now anger finally arrived.
“He promised he would fix everything.”
Claire remained silent.
“He said hiding would only last months.”
Rebecca cried.
“It lasted six years.”
Claire sat beside her.
“I’m angry too.”
Rebecca looked surprised.
“At Andrew?”
“Yes.”
“You loved him.”
“That’s why I’m angry.”
For the first time, the two women stopped treating Andrew as something fragile.
They talked about him honestly.
His stubbornness.
His secrecy.
His belief that he could solve everything alone.
Then they laughed about his terrible dancing.
Samuel heard them.
So did Lily.
The children joined.
That night, Andrew became more than a dead father surrounded by secrets.
He became a real person again.
Flawed.
