The Necklace Lily Wanted
Chapter 18 - The Necklace Lily Wanted
On Lily’s twelfth birthday, Claire finally showed her the diamond necklace.
Lily remembered the jewelry store vaguely.
“Was that Daddy’s?”
“Yes.”
“Is it mine?”
“Someday.”
Lily examined it.
Then asked:
“Why don’t you wear it?”
Claire thought about the question.
For years, the necklace represented lies.
Fear.
Secrets.
Now it represented something else.
Truth discovered too late.
Claire put it on.
Lily smiled.
“You look pretty.”
Claire looked in the mirror.
For the first time, she did not see Andrew’s deception.
She saw everything that came after.
Samuel.
Rebecca.
Justice.
Healing.
