Chapter 13 - Lily’s Choice
Lily refused to speak to Daniel for weeks.
Claire encouraged her not to make permanent decisions while angry, but she never pressured her to forgive.
Eventually Daniel asked for one supervised meeting.
They sat in a quiet café.
Lily asked only one question.
“Did you think about me when you were doing all this?”
Daniel began to explain.
Lily stopped him.
“I didn’t ask why. I asked whether you thought about me.”
Daniel finally said, “Not enough.”
It was the first honest answer he had given.
Lily cried.
Daniel did too.

But when the meeting ended, Lily went home with Claire.
Forgiveness, Claire understood, was not the same thing as returning.
