Victor Hale eventually accepted a plea agreement after investigators uncovered multiple fraudulent transactions.
Daniel cooperated with authorities.
His cooperation reduced the penalties he faced but did not erase them.
Then Daniel made Claire an unexpected offer.
He had sold nearly everything he owned.
After paying legal debts, a small amount remained.
He wanted to donate it to Harbor House.
Claire refused at first.
Daniel said, “It won’t fix what I did.”
“No,” Claire replied.
“I know. That’s why I’m not asking it to.”
Claire accepted the donation under one condition.
Daniel’s name would not appear on a wall.
There would be no public redemption story.
The money would simply help someone.
