Chapter 03 - The Messages
The messages were intimate enough to destroy a marriage, but that was not what frightened Claire most.
There were references to money.
A house.
A deadline.
And a sentence Daniel had apparently written weeks earlier:
Once Claire signs, everything changes.
Claire read it twice.
“What am I supposed to sign?”
Daniel insisted the messages were being taken out of context.
Vanessa shook her head.
“He told me you were selling the lake house.”
Claire went still.
The lake house had belonged to her mother. Daniel had no ownership rights to it.
She had never agreed to sell it.

Someone had been planning her future without her.
