Claire went to the bank alone.
A manager she had known for years closed the office door after reviewing the documents.
“There have been unusual requests on your accounts.”
Daniel had attempted to secure a business loan using marital assets as collateral.
The request had not yet been approved.
Claire asked why nobody had called her.
The manager hesitated.
“Because the authorization appeared to come from you.”
Another forged signature.
Claire felt anger replace shock.
The betrayal was no longer only emotional.
It was deliberate.
When she returned home, Daniel was waiting.
He looked exhausted.
“I can explain.”
