The recording was clear.
Caleb told the doctor to increase Samuel’s medication before the competency examination.
The doctor asked what would happen if the family noticed.
Caleb answered, “The son wants money, and the grandson has a temper. They will blame each other.”
Noah felt sick.
Caleb had understood the Reed family perfectly.
He did not create their distrust.
He used it.
The judge froze all Haven Ridge assets and restored Samuel’s control over his property pending trial.
Karen and the doctor entered guilty pleas.
Caleb refused.
Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded Noah.
He could have blamed Mark publicly.
Instead, he said, “This happened because criminals targeted an old man, and because our family made secrecy easier than truth.”
