Samuel’s Confession
Chapter 14 - Samuel’s Confession
Back at the house, Samuel asked Noah to sit with him.
He confessed that years earlier he had lent Mark money in secret, then lied to Ruth about it. When Mark’s first business failed, Samuel called him weak and cut him off.
“I taught him that mistakes made him unworthy,” Samuel said.
Noah replied, “He still made his choices.”
“I know.”
Samuel did not ask Noah to reconcile with Mark.
He asked only that Noah avoid becoming as rigid as he had been.
Then Samuel revealed one more secret.
The orchard was not worth two million dollars.
A new transportation project had raised the land’s value to nearly eight million.
