The next morning Daniel arrived carrying new documents.
He told Arthur they were routine insurance forms.
Arthur pretended to struggle reading them.
Daniel grew impatient.
“Just sign where I marked.”
Arthur looked at his son.
“What are they?”
“Nothing important.”
Elena stood nearby.
Daniel ignored her.
Arthur slowly picked up the pen.
Rachel watched from the kitchen.
The police had been notified.
Henry Collins was on the phone.
And the entire conversation was being recorded.
Arthur lowered the pen toward the page.
Then stopped.
“What happens if I don’t sign?”
Daniel’s expression changed.
“Dad, don’t make this difficult.”
“What happens?”
Daniel leaned closer.
“You’ll lose the house anyway.”
Arthur stared at him.
“My house?”
Daniel realized his mistake.
Arthur set down the pen.
At that exact moment, two police officers entered through the front door.
Daniel spun around.
